Deep Fried Chicken in Balinese Style

Last month my hubby and I went for a trip to Bali, and for the very first time, he did not enjoy the food there, as usually he loves eating everywhere he goes...

Back in KL, flipping through a magazine, and saw the recipe, Deep Fried Chicken in Balinese style and I told my hubby that I would like to try out this... and when he saw the word Bali, he actually asked me... Sure or not ?!?

After considering it for a few weeks, and coincidence mum is down here in KL, I decided to try this out.
Mum went to the market with aunt and decided to ask them to help me in getting the ingredients. They all thought that I am going to cook rendang, but I insisted that is a NO.

So, on Sat morning, starting the prep :

Ingredient A :
1 kampong chicken
1/2 cup of grated coconut
2 bombay onion (finely chopped)
2 stalks curry leaves (leaves only)
2 tbsp corn flour

Ingredient B:
4cm ginger
1 bombay onion
4 cloves garlic
3 stalks lemon grass

Seasoning:
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp curry powder

Methods :
1) Cut chicken into pcs and marinade it with seasoning.
2) Blend all ingredient B in blender. Add into chicken with the rest of ingredient A.
Marinade for at least 1 hr.

3) Heat up oil & deep fry the marinated chicken over high heat till cooked and golden brown.
4) Remove from heat and serve.

Banana Day ?

Was back in Taiping last weekend, hubby wanted to change his car's tyres... was thinking hard what should I do when I am back there when he is busy with his car ....

Hmmm... decided to do some baking... it was long long time ago since I last baked, I think almost 10 yrs ago when I was still waiting for SPM result, doing nth but baking cakes and cookies everyday lol....

Called up my mum a few days before going back asking her to buy some banana cos I wanted to do Banana cake, a simple recipe I found in a Famous Cuisine magazine...

While for other ingredients, I got it when I went for lunch in Pavillion and it follows me travelling back to Taiping...

And... the outcome of Banana Sunflower Seed Cake....

Recipe for Banana Sunflower Seed Cake
Ingredients:
250gm butter
250gm caster sugar
4 eggs
300g banana flesh (mashed)
370gm self raising flour
50gm sunflower seed
1/2 tsp banana essence
Methods:
1) Pre heat oven to 175c, grease & line a 8" baking tray
2) Beat butter and sugar till light & fluffy
3) Add in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition
4) Add in banana flesh and mix it till combined
5) Fold in sifted flour, sunflower seed and essence.
6) Bake in oven for 30-35 mins
7) Remove & leave to cool

Since there is still balance of bananas, I decided to use it for Kuih Bom Pisang.. I luv to eat this when I was in school.. always buy it during recess time.. and now, I can just do it by myself...

Bro loves it so much that he went out to Tesco to buy more bananas.. but later to find out that the bananas selling in Tesco is not ripe yet... so, he placed advanced order to mum to get it the following week.... :)

My weekends....

Those were the days when I will just spend my weekend doing nth except shopping, sleeping or go for movies....

But, after doing this for almost 5 yrs, all of a sudden I just felt all these 'hobbies' are just a waste of time....

Hmmm.... and I finally decided to spend my weekend doing more quality hobbies... and that is... Cooking and Baking... :)

I used to cook simple dishes occasionally during weekend before my wedding, however, for the past 1 yr, as been pretty busy with the wedding prep and after that, the laziness continues in the flow of my body, resulting us to 'tapau' every weekend.. and it has been pretty unhealthy.

So, finally early this month, the energy in me initiated me to open up a few recipe books and I am enjoying reading recipe and trying it out :)

The 1st dish that I ventured to was Fish Slice Cake. And, hubby loves it :)
The next day, I cooked Fried Chicken with Capsicum and Black Pepper.. and hubby start asking if I could cook Black Pepper Beef for him... hahaha...
